Eye Doctor of The Month : Dr. Gift Nwanaga

In a post published last week, we informed our blog readers that we will be showcasing optometrists (eye doctors) that have won our hearts with their achievements.
Well, this week we decided to showcase : Dr. Gift Chinemerem Nwanaga as the optometrist of the week.

Dr. Gift Nwanaga is undoubtedly a figure to be reckoned with within the ambits of the Optometric profession. He hails from Abia State, Nigeria. He had his Primary School Education at NAWOJ Standard School, Umuahia, Abia State, his secondary Education at Adventist Secondary Technical College, Owerrinta, Abia State, and his tertiary education at Imo State University, Owerri.

He is very brilliant, a true visionary, a fantastic thinker, articulate writer and charismatic communicator. His reputation comes from his multi-talented nature.
He has strong affinity for Optometry profession and believes that it is the ideal, most efficient and affordable way to provide primary eyecare to millions of people globally. His firm commitment to this belief led to the birth of GICENA EYE FOUNDATION, a global non-governmental organization with the core mission of reaching out to people through care for eyesight, one of God's greatest gift to mankind.

He was one of the most influential student leaders of Optometry in his time. His efforts, contributions and achievements towards Optometric Advocacy in the training School are well recognized till date. He held several leadership positions in various Students Associations viz:

1. Director of Welfare, Nigerian Optometric Students Association(NOSA) , Imo State University(IMSU), 
2. Secretary General, NOSA IMSU,
3. President, NOSA IMSU, 
4. National Provost of Students of South-eastern Nigeria.

He has received several awards of excellence in Academics and Leadership too innumerable to mention one of which is the "OVERALL BEST GRADUATING OPTOMETRY STUDENT, 2014/2015, IMO STATE UNIVERSITY, NIGERIA"
He is currently the head, Eyecare Unit, SUNCEL Health Foundation; he is also the coordinator, Eyecare Services, Bright Future Health Services.
